many practices use non-nurses to carry out many nurse related procedures.dressings organising appts or referrals by phone, cleaning instruments post procedures - non-nurses once shown how to do dressingss etc can do these tasks very well, as well as doing the clerical duties on time.....nurses need to be careful. if the little clerk can do all that, then nurses should be capable of doing the same amount of work in a hospital. maybe we could do away with ward clerks and the low wages and get nurses to do the lot sort of like "increased productivity"

Most modern economies have a export industry development policy which is why countries like Finland have such strong "high value add" exports.
Without a similar approach in Australia we can't expect private industries to do it in isolation.

Just a note for everyone out there, while medical practices are usually happy to confirm the veracity of a medical certificate, there is no actual requirement to place a provider number anywhere on such a document.
Most practitioners will also bill a consultation when issuing a certificate, so secondary evidence may also be provided in the form of a receipt.

As a former trade commissioner and asian trade advocate for a large agribusiness company I recognise the potential for government assistance in export development.

India and China, as well as South East Asia represent significant opportunities for Victorian manufacturers and service exporters.

Outward missions and inward delegation visits co-ordinated by government can greatly assist in positioning Victorian companies and linking them up with key customers and contacts.

However, VECCI and the government will also realise that the strong Australian dollar is putting significant pressure on the ability of Victorian companies to export the traditional offering of goods and services.

With this in mind I note that Clean technology is a featured industry in the current Victorian super mission to India.

Having spent three years in Victoria developing an understanding of clean technology I have great confidence that this industry will emerge as a major engine for export and investment and jobs growth. I recommend that VECCI and the Victorian Government seek to support the development of this sector and the 400+ companies that currently operate in Victoria.

January 14, 2010 at 9:48 am</a>Bob … spot on ctemmnos about the show. We exhibited there, and had a terrific experience. The NRF really does put on a great show. But, as with everything, there’s room for improvement. Limited wireless signal was frustrating. More focus on the people side would be great (I’m a bit biased of course). The reality is though that the big IT companies have the budgets to WOW with their booths and technologies. Stay tuned though … people will rise up and rule the day again one day soon (after all, who’s turning on all of those computer switches anyway?) Reply</a>
