Parental leave paymasters – have your say

By Alexandra Marriott

From the 1st of July this year, employers will assume the paymaster responsibility for the Federal Government’s paid parental leave scheme. Now we want to hear from all Victorian business owners and managers on the topic.

That means that employers will be responsible for distributing the payments and other administrative requirements, including notifying employees of any under or overpayment and keeping records of all payments.

We have previously blogged on this issue and the burden this may place on some businesses, especially small operations with fewer resources.

Please vote in our VECCI Blog poll below and let us know how these new requirements will affect you and your business.

  1. Thanks for your comment Billbo.

VECCI continues to fight against regulatory burdens being imposed on business, and so we’re continuing to take the message to both State and Federal Government that the requirement of business to act as paymaster for the scheme imposes an avoidable and unecesssary burden on business. We’re particularly concerned that it will prove difficult for small and medium business.

Taxed up the wazoo, and now we have to administer this scheme for Govt? What do our taxes pay for?
